Thousands of Hosts Across the Country Use Their Income from Airbnb to Fulfill Their Travel Dreams In the US, nearly one-in-four Airbnb Hosts were also guests on the platform.

You don’t have to decide between being a host or a guest, because you can be both at the same time. In the US, nearly one-in-four Airbnb Hosts were also guests on the platform, each Host earning almost $12,000 - between January 1 and June 30, 2022. Recently, Caroline Hutt, host of an eco-cabin in Ontario, Canada, conducted a satellite media tour to talk about this and her experience being an Airbnb Host.

There’s no surprise that the Airbnb Host community is passionate about travel. In fact, more than half of its current Host community began their journey with Airbnb traveling as a guest on the platform. And while they now spend their time dreaming up inspiring listing ideas, seeking out the hidden gems in their neighborhoods or doing the many other things involved to ensure their guests are living like locals – they too, need to scratch the travel itch sometimes.
Many hosts are seeing their homes as a way to make extra money while traveling, whether to cover some of their mortgage and bills or even fund a summer holiday abroad. In the US, nearly one-in-four Airbnb Hosts were also guests on the platform, typically earning more than $12,000 between January 1 and June 30, 2022.
According to a recent survey, over 60 percent of Hosts who said they list their primary home said one of the occasions in which they rented to guests was while traveling on vacation. That typical income means that Hosts can travel to destinations like Buenos Aires, Istanbul or Milan and still have earnings left to cover living expenses or save for next year’s trip.

Since Caroline began Hosting her cabin in 2019, she has earned $39,593 which has allowed her to fuel her passion for travel while providing guests with a tranquil getaway in her off-grid cabin.
