As we’re about to tie up 2022 with a bow, now is the perfect time to Host your place on Airbnb to earn some extra income this holiday season. Hosts across the US have been sharing their spaces on Airbnb for well over a decade and it is proving to be a vital tool to earn extra income. Recently, Airbnb Superhosts, Sophia and Tyler Martin conducted a satellite media tour to talk about how hosting has helped them earn extra income.

With Airbnb’s 2022 Winter Release, which introduced Airbnb Setup and updated AirCover for Hosts, it is now easier than ever for new Hosts to Airbnb their place, with plenty of time to start earning before the end of the year. In fact, many are already taking advantage: Since the release through November 22, Airbnb has seen more than 1 million distinct visitors to the Host landing page, up by more than 90 percent compared to the week prior.
US Hosts earned $4 billion during the 2021 holiday season
Hosting is a great way to offset the costs of holiday gift giving, travel and more. During last year’s holiday season1, US Hosts’ total earnings reached almost $4 billion, while global Hosts netted a total of more than $8.5 billion during the same period. On top of that, Hosts in the US received more than $600 million between last Christmas and New Year’s alone.
In Q3 2022, total earnings for US Hosts surpassed $6.8 billion while global Hosts reached over $16.8 billion, indicating that the opportunities for Hosts remain strong. There’s still time to get in on the action: Half of all listings activated and booked in Q3 2022 received their first booking within three days.
The gift of experienced advice and new protections
With the all-new Airbnb Setup, new Hosts receive one-to-one guidance from a Superhost, meaning that new Hosts are matched with Superhosts in their area to guide them through the entire hosting process by phone, video call, or chat. Additionally, they have the option to host an experienced guest (a guest with a stellar track record on Airbnb) as their first guest. Lastly, new Hosts have one-tap access to specially trained Community Support agents. Together with AirCover for Hosts, now with even more top-to-bottom protection – from guest identity verification, reservation screening, to $3M damage protections, including coverage for cars, boats, art and valuables – now is the perfect time to get started hosting – potentially have the holidays pay for themselves.

About Sophia and Tyler
Sophia and Tyler are Airbnb Superhosts based in San Francisco. They are natural hosts, who enjoy hosting dinner parties and get togethers - they even hosted their wedding reception in their own backyard! They started their journey as Airbnb Hosts when they grew out of their 650 sq ft condo during the height of the pandemic. During their hunt for a new home, they fell in love with a historic house that was above their price point. They decided to supplement their mortgage by Airbnb-ing part of the home and turned it into their side hustle. Hosting has helped them pay off debts, save for their wedding, and they enjoy the added bonus of meeting amazing people from all over the world!
