The next generation of mental health professionals - some 275 “change makers” were awarded master’s and doctoral degrees last Friday at two commencement ceremonies for the Washington, DC campus of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The graduates enter a profession dealing with severe shortages at a time when experts say as many as one-in-five people in this country suffer from a mental disorder, and only half of those who need help can get it. In addressing the graduates, Dr. Michele Nealon, Psy.D. Today TISJ announces a call for nominations for the OneJustWorld Awards. Award winners will be announced in February in conjunction with the World Day of Social Justice. This will be the first year of these awards, which will recognize and honor those who have demonstrated their leadership and commitment to putting social justice into action in the areas of education, economics, environment, health, safety, and social impact. Anyone can submit a nomination to recognize individuals and organizations that have made a measurable and meaningful contribution. Comcast California Hosts Inaugural Digital Equity Summit in San Francisco

Today, Comcast hosted a Digital Equity Summit in San Francisco. The gathering brought together more than 100 executives, program directors, community leaders, public officials, and other key stakeholders from around the Golden State working to close the digital divide and create digital equity. The goals of the summit were to highlight best practices; learn more about the current and future needs of vulnerable communities; and identify challenges, solutions, and available funding resources. The summit also served as a moment to celebrate the work of Comcast’s valued digital equity partners across California, who worked throughout the pandemic to help drive Internet adoption and provide digital literacy training for those in need. In addition, the company announced it has exceeded its expanded goal to launch 1,250 Lift Zones before the end of this year.
